Job purpose
The Warehouse Operator role is integral to our Warehouse team which supports wider supply chain activities within the business. The Warehouse Operator is accountable for timely, accurate movement of goods inwards/outwards and control of stock through employing inventory management best-practices.
Within this role, you will be responsible for checking the quality and accuracy of incoming goods against engineering drawings and performing the receipt process in our ERP system (Microsoft Dynamics D365 F&O). You will be cross trained to support with order picking/dispatch and inventory management activities. You will work closely with other operations staff across our production, purchasing, shipping, and quality teams. You will also interface with external parties (e.g. delivery drivers, freight forwarders) so a friendly attitude, ability to create relationships, and strong communication skills are required.
We are looking for someone with an eye for detail and practical experience with hardware in a manufacturing environment. Being able to demonstrate accountability and proactivity are a must for this role.
Duties and responsibilities
Receiving and Inspection
- Receive and process incoming stock and materials. Inspect products for accuracy, defects, and damages, and verify delivery quantities.
- Visual inspection includes but is not limited to verifying that the parts are free of voids, cracks, flash in critical areas, defects to cosmetic finish, and have correct part number marking.
- Perform measurement inspection, dimensionally to the relevant drawings and information. Limit inspection to critical dimensions and use where applicable sample size. Use the correct measuring tools related to the drawing tolerance.
- Perform goods receipt process in ERP system. If any issues encountered with receipting a PO, escalate to the buyer responsible and work together to determine and resolve issues.
- Manage customer returns by processing returned goods physically and in ERP system.
Order Picking and Dispatch
- Pick orders from inventory and check for accuracy. Record picking activities in the ERP system.
- Prepare orders for shipping by assisting the shipping team with necessary labelling. Load goods onto and off trucks and serve as host for any drivers and freight forwarders.
Inventory Management
- Organize and maintain inventory by updating inventory records, transferring stock, and managing locations in the ERP system.
- Ensure physical stock accuracy by conducting regular cycle counts and reconciling discrepancies.
- Maintain warehouse and store room orderliness, ensure labeling is up-to-date, and alert procurement team of any shortages.
Other
- Suggest, implement, and assist with improvement activities.
- Champion and maintain warehouse safety and cleanliness.
- Operate and maintain warehouse vehicles and equipment (hand trucks, stackers, etc.).
- Safely load and unload goods from trucks.
Qualifications
The qualifications required to successfully perform the job. These are the qualifications that are necessary to be considered for the position.
- Mechanical or machining qualifications MBO or equivalent
- Work experience in a manufacturing or production environment preferred
- Able to read drawings, dimensions/tolerances, and understand the related symbols
- Able to select and use the correct measuring tools (callipers, thread gauges, etc.)
- Understand commonly used manufacturing processes (e.g. CNC, lasercut, welding)
- The ability to write and speak in English at a professional level
- Computer literate and able to use and/or quickly learn required programs
(MS Office Excel/Outlook/Teams, ERP, CAD model viewer, document library, etc.) - Experience with Microsoft Dynamics D365 F&O as an ERP system a plus
- Qualified for driving and working with stackers (if none, stacker training can be provided)
Working conditions
The Warehouse Operator role will require handling of parts daily and up to 20kg manual lifting. The Warehouse Operator is deemed front-line staff and is expected to be on-site based in Alphen aan den Rijn.

The Warehouse Operator reports directly to the Production & Warehouse Manager.
